NCLT says minority shareholders can also oppress majority, restores board representation

Chennai NCLT ruled that minority shareholders can also be guilty of oppression under the Companies Act.

The tribunal observed that oppression is not limited to majority shareholders.

Minority shareholders who usurp management control and deprive the majority of legitimate rights can be oppressive.

The ruling restores board representation for the majority shareholder in the case.
