Weekend Drive by Hormazd Sorabjee: A roaring rebirth

Jaguar has discontinued all petrol and diesel models (XE, XF, F-Pace, F-Type) and launched the all-electric Type 01.

The Type 01 is Jaguar's first pure electric model, with around 1000bhp and 0-100kph in under three seconds.

The car is over five metres long with 23-inch wheels, a long bonnet, and a coupé silhouette inspired by the E-Type.

Jaguar boss Rawdon Glover says the company aims for polarizing design rather than universal appeal.

The cabin is driver-focused with low seating, slim windows, and individual rear seats, but small rear windows may affect chauffeur-driven comfort in India.
