ED raids 9 places across J&K, Punjab in narco-terror funding case

ED raided 9 locations in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir under PMLA, 2002 in a narco-terror funding case.

Heroin consignments were smuggled from Pakistan via Pakistan-based handlers linked with Hizbul Mujahideen, coordinated by Kashmir-based accused Safeer Ahmed and Kafeel Ahmed.

In September 2023, Punjab-based carriers Sarabjeet Singh and Honey Basra were intercepted at Banihal with 30 packets of heroin weighing about 31 kg.

Punjab-side network headed by Satnam Singh and Manjit Singh alias Maan used forged documents and concealed cavities to transport heroin.

Proceeds of crime from heroin sales were used to fund terror activities.
