Delhi court rejects govt department's plea to register FIR, upholds magistrate's order

A Delhi court dismissed a revision petition by Delhi government's Directorate of Employment seeking an FIR against a private firm for allegedly misappropriating ₹1.94 lakh.

Additional Sessions Judge Dhirendra Rana upheld the magistrate's August 2023 order rejecting the FIR request.

The court ruled that police investigation was unnecessary because the department holds all relevant documents and the accused are identified.

The department alleged the firm provided two demand drafts that were later cancelled at the firm's request, while the firm claimed the goods were substandard.
