Landslip cripples Bengaluru–Mangaluru rail link, trains cancelled & diverted

A landslip occurred on the railway track between Yedakumari and Shrivagilu stations in Hassan district, Karnataka, disrupting rail connectivity between Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and parts of Kerala.

South Western Railway (SWR) reported that soil slipped onto the track around 8:45pm Saturday, halting five trains at nearby stations.

SWR arranged refreshments for passengers at Hassan, Subrahmanya Road, Shrivagilu, and Bantwala stations, and deployed additional machines and resources for restoration.

Seven trains were short-terminated at Hassan, Sakaleshpur, Subrahmanya Road, and Kabaka Puttur stations, and the Panchaganga Express was diverted through Kerala via Mangaluru, Palakkad, Erode, and Jolarpettai.

SWR cancelled two trains between Bengaluru and Mangaluru scheduled for Sunday, including the Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Jn express.
