47 GW battery storage, 23 GW pumped storage projects in pipeline

India has nearly 47 GW battery storage and 23 GW pumped storage projects in pipeline as per power ministry.

GW battery storage is under construction, 12 GW awarded, 19 GW at tendering stage as of June 30.

GW pumped storage is under construction, 7 GW received concurrence.

India requires Rs 4.8 lakh crore investment in storage by 2031-32 to support renewable energy integration.

Installed capacity is projected to reach 874 GW by 2031-32 with 10-year resource adequacy plans by states.
