Matt Damon on nearly five decades of friendship with Ben Affleck

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck met as children in Cambridge, Massachusetts and have maintained a close friendship for nearly five decades.

Damon said they bolstered each other as teenagers when they were the only ones who believed in each other's acting aspirations.

They traveled together for auditions, including for The Mickey Mouse Club, supporting each other when few others believed they would succeed.

Damon credited their mutual belief as key to overcoming the long odds of breaking into the entertainment industry.
