Arunachal's draft electoral roll shrinks by nearly 20% after SIR

Arunachal Pradesh's draft electoral roll published on July 21, 2026, has 7.18 lakh electors, down from 8.9 lakh on June 2, 2026, a nearly 20% decrease.

Only 80.9% of electors submitted enumeration forms; 19.1% were marked as permanently shifted, absent, dead, or duplicate enrolments.

The drop followed a special intensive revision (SIR) exercise in the border state that shares a border with China.

Claims and objections can be filed from July 21 to August 20, with final rolls to be published on September 22, 2026.
