Employee groups demand DA merger and new formula

Close to 1 crore beneficiaries, including 50 lakh central government employees and 65 lakh pensioners, benefit from DA hike announcements.
The Centre hiked DA by 2% in April to 69% of basic pay, effective from 1 January 2026.
The National Council – Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) demands an inflation-linked wage model and a minimum pay hike to ₹69,000 per month from ₹18,000.
Other demands include implementation of DA merger and a new calculation formula for Dearness Allowance.
The 8th pay commission closed memorandum submissions on 15 June and data submissions will close on 31 July, with stakeholder meetings scheduled in Delhi, Chennai, and Puducherry.
