Anees shot with Divya Bharti a day before she passed away: 'She was saying mujhe bachaao'

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee recalled that Divya Bharti's last shot for the film Laadla was her saying 'Mujhe bachaao' a day before she died.

After Divya Bharti's death on April 5, 1993, nearly 90-95 per cent of Laadla was reshot with Sridevi in the lead role.

Sridevi agreed to star in Laadla after initially rejecting the Tamil and Telugu versions, Mannan (1992) and Gharana Mogudu (1992).

Laadla (1994), a Hindi adaptation of the Kannada film Anuraga Aralithu, became a major commercial success starring Sridevi, Anil Kapoor, and Raveena Tandon.
