Karnataka education department proposes to shield teachers from election and survey duties to prevent disruption to classroom teaching.

Teachers from single-teacher schools will not be deployed; in schools with two teachers, neither will be taken away.

In larger primary schools, no more than 50% of teaching staff can be deployed for non-academic duties.

Teachers handling classes 9 to 12 would be completely insulated from such deployment due to public exam preparation.

The proposal requires a non-availability certificate from other government departments before deploying teachers.
