MG eyes up to 80% sales from 'new energy' vehicles
JSW MG Motor India expects new-energy vehicles (EVs, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, range-extender EVs) to account for nearly 80% of its total sales in 2026.
MG will introduce its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) later this financial year, targeting diesel SUV buyers.
The PHEV will be built on MG's new ADAPT platform, India's first multi-new energy vehicle platform supporting BEVs, hybrids, PHEVs, and range-extender EVs.
Passenger vehicle EV penetration in India crossed 8% in June 2026, up from below 4% at the start of the year, driven by higher fuel costs and savings awareness.
Industry-wide EV sales are growing at around 70%, outpacing the broader passenger vehicle market.
