Tejas Shirse, Sarvesh Kushare headline India’s opening-day athletics challenge

Tejas Shirse seeks India's first athletics medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in the men's 110m hurdles event.

Shirse broke the national record with a time of 13.27s at the Indian Athletics Series in Ludhiana after recovering from a severe ankle injury.

Sarvesh Kushare and Tejaswin Shankar will compete in the high jump event.

Murali Sreeshankar and Gurindervir Singh are set to participate in their respective events.

Shirse overcame a four-month injury layoff and personal struggles, crediting his physio Nilesh Makwana and coach James Hillier for his comeback.
