NC leader raises issue of NH-44 closure during fruit harvest season

NC MLA Riyaz Ahmad Khan raised the issue of NH-44 closure during apple harvest season, calling it a conspiracy.

The Srinagar-Jammu national highway (NH-44) was closed on Friday and Saturday for 'restoration work' between Jhakheni and Banihal.

Khan said fruit trucks were not allowed on Sunday but will be allowed from Monday, while yatra convoys with large vehicles are permitted.

He urged the central government to intervene, stating that continued closures would ruin Kashmir's fruit economy.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti had previously compared the closure to 'economic apartheid' and requested a green corridor.
