What is ‘Hammer of the Gods’? US Army tests weapon-disrupting system that can blind enemies

The US Army tested the electronic warfare system ‘Hammer of the Gods’ in mid-July as part of Project Convergence Capstone 6.

The system disrupts positioning, navigation and timing (PNT) signals, including GPS, to blind precision-guided weapons like long-range artillery and guided missiles.

The test was the first overseas demonstration of the maritime variant of the system.

The Army stated the system enables US forces to ‘shoot, move and communicate’ even in electronically degraded environments.

Testing reflects the growing importance of electronic warfare, as seen in conflicts like the war in Ukraine.
