MCC may allow Sunday Bazaar with riders

Mangaluru City Corporation commissioner Rahul Ratnam Pandey inspected designated street-vending zones near the Town Hall on Thursday.

Pandey told street vendors the MCC would consider allowing Sunday Bazaar after discussion, subject to conditions.

Functionaries of the Dakshina Kannada District Street Vendors’ Association and Beedibadi Vyaparastara Shreyobhivriddhi Sangha urged allowing 40 vendors to continue Sunday business near the Town Hall.

MCC had previously conducted eviction drives against the Sunday Bazaar, and Mangaluru South police registered a case against vendors.

Pandey instructed vendors not to operate at the Town Hall on the upcoming Sunday; a meeting will be held next week to decide on declaring a vending zone.
