Our children deserve to be protected, not portrayed as villains: Gitanjali J Angmo

Gitanjali J Angmo, wife of activist Sonam Wangchuk and co-founder of Himalayan Institute of Alternatives Ladakh, defended student protesters amid allegations of violence during the Cockroach Janta Party's 'Sansad Chalo' march.

Angmo called for not linking the peaceful Jantar Mantar protest to violence elsewhere in Delhi without evidence.

She criticized media for tarnishing students' image and questioned why it is easier to question their intentions than hear their concerns.

The CJP-led agitation, ongoing since June 20, demands accountability in exam irregularities, education reforms, and resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Sonam Wangchuk, on hunger strike since June 28, is hospitalized at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and offered to end his fast if no punitive action is taken against peaceful protesters.
