IRCTC shuts Mumbai Central’s Jan Aahar over hygiene lapses, poor food quality

IRCTC shut Jan Aahar, the affordable eatery at Mumbai Central railway station, after an inspection found hygiene lapses and poor food quality.

On August 3, IRCTC's Mumbai office issued an advisory to all Jan Aahar outlets and food stalls to strictly maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Violations included unclean dining area, uncovered cooked food, dirty utensils, repeated frying oil, and staff not wearing gloves or caps.

IRCTC imposed a penalty of around ₹1 lakh on the operator and shut the outlet.

IRCTC operates six Jan Aahar centres in Mumbai, including at Mumbai Central and CSMT.
