A three-year-old girl died after a speeding Bolero hit her at the weekly market in Dasgaon village, Gondia district, Maharashtra.

The driver fled the scene, and the girl's family alleged delays in police action.

Villagers and former Zilla Parishad member Narendra Turkar staged a road blockade demanding the accused's arrest.

Police gave a written assurance that the accused would be arrested; the family then handed over the body for post-mortem.
