Over 7,000 Auto-Rickshaw Drivers Complete Marathi Training In Vasai-Virar Ahead Of August 15 Deadline

Non-Marathi auto-rickshaw drivers in Vasai-Virar must complete Marathi language training by August 15 or face permit cancellation.

Over 7,000 drivers have cleared the free course in the past two months, prompting authorities to open additional centers.

Training duration was compressed from 7 days to 2–3 days (4 mandatory hours) to handle the surge.

Courses are provided free of cost through state-level centers run by Transport Department, Konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad, and Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh.

Palghar District Coordinator Seema Patil confirmed expanded training capacity to help drivers meet the requirement.
