Flood mitigation in Lko: Proposal cleared, ₹350-cr project moves closer to implementation

The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) received state government approval for the ₹350-crore Urban Flood Risk Mitigation Programme.
The proposal was forwarded to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for final clearance and fund release.
Funding includes ₹200 crore from the National Disaster Management Fund (NDMF) and ₹150 crore from the Uttar Pradesh government.
The project allocates ₹244.8 crore for drainage upgrades, pond rejuvenation, and blue-green infrastructure, and ₹105.2 crore for floodplain zoning and an early warning system.
Critical flood-prone areas identified include Nyay Vihar in Bhitauli Khurd and the Paper Mill Ward corridor.
