Chandigarh: One in 8 voters didn’t submit enumeration forms, risk being left out of electoral roll

In Chandigarh, 66,146 voters (12.8%) did not submit enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise.

Chief electoral officer Prerna Puri said 5 lakh forms were distributed but only 4.5 lakh (87%) were returned.

Unverified names will be excluded from the draft electoral roll published on July 21.

Of the uncollected forms, 43,724 voters had permanently shifted, 12,568 were absent, 3,535 were deceased, and 2,590 were duplicate entries.

The number of polling stations in Chandigarh was reduced from 614 to 575 under rationalisation.
