The Union cabinet approved the ₹62,500 crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS).
MPMS will run from fiscal 2026-27 to fiscal 2030-31, aiming to create 60,000 direct jobs.
Cumulative mobile production is targeted at ₹39 lakh crore, with exports projected to double to ₹15 lakh crore.
The scheme offers incentives of 2.25% to 5% on eligible sales of phones manufactured in India.
