The Uttar Pradesh government reconstituted the SIT investigating alleged embezzlement of offerings at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, following a Supreme Court order.
The new SIT is led by Inspector General Kiran S, with Deputy Inspector General Somen Verma and Ayodhya SSP Dr Gaurav Grover as members, replacing the earlier panel headed by Lucknow Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant.
The Supreme Court directed the formation of a fresh SIT under a senior IPS officer and ordered a status report by July 27.
The case involves allegations that devotees' donations at the Ram Temple were siphoned off; investigators previously examined CCTV footage, donation registers, and financial records, leading to arrests and seizure of assets.
The new SIT will submit its findings to the Supreme Court in a status report on July 27.
