Gulveer Singh won a silver medal in the men's 10,000m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, finishing in 27:49.78.
He is the first Indian to win a CWG 10,000m medal and the third Indian male track athlete to secure a CWG podium finish, after Milkha Singh and Avinash Sable.
Gulveer overtook Kenya's Edwin Kurgat in the final 200 meters to take second place, dropping to his knees after crossing the line.
He credited his mental toughness to his training in the Indian Army, saying 'Pehle main Indian Army ka jawaan hoon, phir athlete hoon.'
The race was run under heavy rain and cold conditions in Scotland, which Gulveer said did not stop him.
