FIGC has held talks with Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti for the Italy national team coach position.
Italy failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for a third straight time after losing a playoff to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
FIGC technical director Paolo Maldini confirmed Guardiola and Ancelotti are targets, having spent three days in Barcelona meeting Guardiola.
Ancelotti signed a contract extension with Brazil through 2030, but Brazil exited the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16.
FIGC hopes to appoint a new coach within the week following the resignations of former president Gabriele Gravina and head coach Gennaro Gattuso.
