Full story →Who is Naresh Pal Gangwar? New education secretary appointed amid CJP protest

Naresh Pal Gangwar, a 1994-batch Rajasthan-cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as secretary of the Department of Higher Education amid protests by Cockroach Janata Party (CJP).
Gangwar will replace 1992-batch officer Vineet Joshi, who has been transferred to the Department of Panchayati Raj.
Gangwar currently serves as secretary of the animal husbandry and dairying department, and holds a Bachelor of Technology from IIT Roorkee and Master's degrees from IIT Delhi and the University of Rajasthan.
He has previously served as joint secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, heading divisions on pollution control and hazardous substances management.
CJP protests in Delhi, demanding resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, have intensified with activist Sonam Wangchuk on hunger strike since June 28.
