Full story →'Police powers misused': Prashant Kishor alleges voter intimidation, files complaint over Bankipur bypoll
Jan Suraaj founder and Bankipur bypoll candidate Prashant Kishor filed a complaint with the Election Commission and police observers, alleging police powers were misused and voters intimidated during the Bihar assembly by-election.
Kishor submitted a formal complaint to Bihar Chief Electoral Officer, seeking inquiry into role of Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma and other police officials during polling.
Jan Suraaj delegation submitted a memorandum to CEO's office alleging irregularities, detention of party workers without valid grounds, and one-sided police action.
Documentary evidence was submitted to the Election Commission; CEO assured the complaints would be examined.
Bankipur bypoll was held after BJP leader Nitin Nabin vacated the seat; it saw a three-cornered contest between BJP's Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Prashant Kishor, and RJD's Rekha Gupta, with 34.3% voter turnout and counting on August 3.
