What's going on with Bengaluru PG Cylinder Blast

Nine migrant workers from West Bengal sustained severe burns in a gas leak explosion at their paying guest accommodation in Bommasandra-Hebbagodi, Electronics City, Bengaluru.

The explosion occurred at 6:30am on July 23, 2026, in a single-bedroom unit with kitchen and bathroom, on the second floor of a building owned by Nagaraj Reddy and leased to Gangaraju (operator of Jai Sai Comforts PG).

The blast was triggered by a leaking LPG cylinder, possibly exacerbated by windows being shut overnight to keep out mosquitoes, causing gas buildup.

The injured workers, with burns ranging from 25% to 60%, were taken to a private hospital; one also suffered a hand fracture.

Police are investigating the local private LPG brand and verifying the quality of the cylinder, regulator, and connecting pipes.
