Everything that happened in Electoral Roll Revision

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Odisha and Telangana.

In Odisha, the claims and objections deadline is extended to August 19, with final roll publication on September 21.

In Telangana, the draft roll publication is moved to August 17, claims and objections from August 17 to September 16, and final roll on October 19.

The extensions follow requests from the Chief Electoral Officers of both states, under Rule 12 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

ECI published draft electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh with 3.71 crore electors.

Revision identified 15.22 lakh deceased, 22.30 lakh shifted, and 7.37 lakh duplicate voters.

Final roll scheduled for October 3.

Haryana's draft voter roll excludes 16.4% of the electorate; Andhra Pradesh's excludes 10.8%.

In Haryana, 33.8 lakh names were struck off, reducing the electorate from 2.1 crore to 1.7 crore.

In Andhra Pradesh, 44.9 lakh voters were removed, leaving 3.7 crore in the draft roll.

Deletions were due to deaths, permanent shifts, multiple registrations, and non-submission of forms.

Eligible voters can be reinstated via Form 6 during the claims period from July 31 to Aug 30.
