The National Health Authority (NHA) concluded a two-day national review meeting on Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on July 18, 2026. The meeting focused on financial sustainability, strengthening public hospitals, and accelerating digital health transformation using AI and analytics. It also recognized top-performing states and UTs with awards.

Background

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) is the world's largest health insurance scheme, providing coverage of ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) aims to create a digital health ecosystem with unique health IDs and interoperable health records. The NHA is the implementing agency for both schemes.

  7. Union Health Secretary Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava emphasized that AB PM-JAY and ABDM have emerged as integral pillars of India's healthcare ecosystem.

  8. The meeting prepared a roadmap for the next phase of health sector reforms in India.
