Union Minister Shri Prahlad Joshi inaugurated the Indian Standard Time (IST) Dissemination Demonstration Network based on White Rabbit Technology in Bengaluru on 16 July 2026. This network enables secure and highly accurate dissemination of IST for critical infrastructure, marking a step towards technological self-reliance and the 'One Nation, One Time' initiative.

Background

The Indian Standard Time Dissemination Project is a collaborative effort involving the Department of Consumer Affairs, CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), ISRO, and other stakeholders. It aims to establish a secure, robust, and indigenous national time synchronization framework. The White Rabbit Technology, based on Precision Time Protocol (PTP), provides sub-nanosecond accuracy and is used in critical sectors like banking, telecom, power, and transport.
