Why in news
My Bharat, under the Department of Youth Affairs, has facilitated nearly one lakh youth to access the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) through its digital platform and volunteer network. This collaboration aims to enhance youth employability and strengthen industry participation.
Background
The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) is a government initiative to provide internship opportunities to youth in top companies. My Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) is a digital platform for youth engagement and volunteerism.
Key facts
As of 16 July 2026, 98,632 youth were redirected from My Bharat portal to PMIS portal for application registration.
Three outreach and internship camps were held in Chennai (600+ youth), Pune (90 youth), and Dantewada (800+ youth).
Top states by youth redirected: Maharashtra (10,213), Uttar Pradesh (10,838), Andhra Pradesh (8,475), Tamil Nadu (7,125).
The collaboration involves the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, and My Bharat.
A dedicated volunteer opportunity for PMIS is published on the My Bharat portal.
The initiative supports the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 by making youth skilled and employable.
