Why in news

Uttar Pradesh is preparing for its fifth Ground Breaking Ceremony (GBC-5) in November 2026, and the state government has announced a strategic shift in investment focus from Greater Noida to Bundelkhand. This move aims to redirect investor interest to regions with abundant land and lower investment, offering additional concessions for B-category towns.

Background

The previous four GBCs saw Greater Noida as the preferred destination due to its proximity to Delhi and the operational Noida International Airport at Jewar. The state has hosted two Investor Summits (2018 and 2023), with the latter attracting proposals worth ₹33.50 lakh crore. The GBC mechanism was institutionalized to fast-track implementation of these investment commitments.
