Union Minister Prahlad Joshi inaugurated the 'Indian Standard Time (IST) - Distribution Demonstration Network' based on White Rabbit Technology at the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL) in Jakkur, Bengaluru. This initiative aims to establish a unified, highly accurate, and secure time standard across India, reducing dependence on foreign time sources like GPS.

India has been relying on GPS and other foreign time sources for synchronizing critical infrastructure. The 'One Nation, One Time' vision seeks to establish India's sovereignty in timekeeping, enhancing security and reliability for sectors like banking, defense, and digital infrastructure.

The network is based on White Rabbit Technology, a high-accuracy time synchronization technology.
It was inaugurated at the Regional Reference Standard Laboratory (RRSL) in Jakkur, Bengaluru.
The nodal agency is the Legal Metrology Division of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
Collaborating institutions include NPL, ISRO, BSNL, and SEBI.
The system aligns with Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) standards.
