Why in news

The Ministry of Education provided a detailed update on the PM-ONOS (One Nation One Subscription) scheme in a Lok Sabha reply on July 27, 2026. The scheme, launched in January 2025, has seen significant adoption in Andhra Pradesh, with over 3.11 lakh students and 6,974 faculty members using it. The reply also highlighted that 68 eligible institutions in Andhra Pradesh are yet to be covered.

Background

The One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) scheme is a central government initiative to provide access to scholarly journals to higher education institutions (HEIs) and R&D institutions across India. It is implemented through the Information and Library Network Centre (INFLIBNET).
