Why in news
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) platform, has enabled over 12 lakh youth to enrol in nearly 25,000 experiential learning programmes (ELPs). These structured programmes bridge academic learning with real-world experience, covering diverse sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and semiconductors.
Background
MY Bharat is a digital platform launched to empower youth by providing skill development, leadership opportunities, and experiential learning. It collaborates with government departments, public institutions, and partner organizations to offer structured assignments that complement formal education.
Key facts
Over 12 lakh youth have enrolled in about 25,000 experiential learning programmes under MY Bharat.
Participants receive jointly valid digital certificates through the MY Bharat portal upon successful completion.
ELPs cover sectors: healthcare, postal services, agriculture, broadcasting, road safety, public distribution, governance, community development, and semiconductor technology.
Key programmes include India Post ELP, Jan Aushadhi ELP, Learn from Service ELP, PDS ELP, Road Safety Mitra ELP, Radio Production & Presentation ELP, FPO ELP, Youth Engagement with Senior Citizens ELP, and Semiconductor Training Programme.
Each programme has defined learning objectives, assigned tasks, supervision, and completion requirements.
Application and selection are done through the MY Bharat portal; host organizations verify completion and issue digital certificates.
Partners include Department of Posts, PMBI, state health departments, food & civil supplies departments, MoRTH, Prasar Bharati, NABM, FPOs, CeNSE-IISc Bangalore, and Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
