Why in news
The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the PM-Kisan Yojana from 2026-27 to 2030-31 with a total financial outlay of Rs 3.1 lakh crore. This extension ensures continued income support to eligible farmer families, enhancing their productive capacity.
Background
PM-Kisan is a central sector scheme launched in 2019 to provide income support to landholding farmer families. It was initially for a period of three years from 2019-20 to 2021-22, and has been extended multiple times.

Total financial outlay for the extension is Rs 3.1 lakh crore.
Eligible landholding farmer families receive Rs 6,000 per year.
