NCVET Recognizes NIRDPR as Awarding Body (Dual) for Skill Certification

Why in news
On 21 July 2026, NCVET and NIRDPR signed an agreement granting NIRDPR recognition as an Awarding Body (Dual). This enables NIRDPR to award degrees, assess, and certify learners trained directly in its own or fully managed campuses under approved qualifications.
Background
NIRDPR is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Rural Development. NCVET is the apex regulator for vocational education and training in India. The Dual Awarding Body status allows institutions to both train and certify learners.
Key facts
NCVET (National Council for Vocational Education and Training) recognized NIRDPR (National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) as an Awarding Body (Dual) on 21 July 2026.
The agreement was signed between NCVET and NIRDPR, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Rural Development.
NIRDPR can now award degrees, conduct assessments, and certify learners trained in its own or fully managed campuses under approved qualifications.
Initial approved qualifications include 'Industrial General Pest Management Technician' and a micro-credential on 'Revenue Generation and Collection by Panchayats from Own Sources'.
NIRDPR plans to launch NCVET-approved courses in industry-linked programs for rural youth, entrepreneurship courses for SHGs, and professional skill courses for rural development and Panchayati Raj personnel.
The signing ceremony was chaired by Shri Niranjan Kumar Sudhanshu, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Executive Member of NCVET.
