Why in news

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs launched the upgraded National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) 2.0 web portal on 11 September 2024. Unlike the previous version restricted to recognized institutions, NYPS 2.0 is open to all educational institutions, groups, and citizens across the country. The data on registrations was provided in a Lok Sabha written reply by Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal.

Background

The National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) is a flagship program of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs aimed at inculcating democratic values and parliamentary procedures among the youth. The earlier version was limited to students of recognized institutions.
