Background
The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) was a central scheme guaranteeing 100 days of wage employment per year to rural households. It was replaced nationwide by the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission Gramin (VB-G RAM G) scheme from July 1, 2026.
