Background
On August 5, 2019, the Indian government abrogated Article 370 and bifurcated the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. Since then, there have been ongoing demands for the restoration of statehood. National Conference, a prominent regional party, has been at the forefront of this movement.
