An inspection of 1,677 Delhi schools revealed that 774 (over 45%) failed to follow official student safety and child protection rules. The findings highlight serious compliance gaps in both private and government schools, prompting immediate remedial action.

Background

The inspection drive was launched on July 13, 2026, following directions from LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu and CM Rekha Gupta for strict implementation of 'Child Protection Month' initiatives. It aims to cover all 5,633 schools in Delhi.
