The first Panch Sammelan was held in Varanasi to discuss the implementation of VB-G-RAM-G, a new system for rural development schemes effective from July 1, 2026. Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan highlighted its role in realizing the vision of 'Developed Village to Developed India'.
Background
VB-G-RAM-G (Vikasit Gram se Rashtriya Avam Mulya Grameen) is a revamped framework for implementing rural development schemes, replacing earlier provisions under MGNREGA that faced practical difficulties. It aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and people's participation.

VB-G-RAM-G stands for 'Vikasit Gram se Rashtriya Avam Mulya Grameen' (Developed Village to National and Rural Values).
The system was launched nationwide on July 1, 2026.
First Panch Sammelan was held in Varanasi, attended by about 500 village heads from UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand.
Union Minister Kamlesh Paswan and UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya jointly inaugurated the Sammelan.
VB-G-RAM-G incorporates amendments to MGNREGA provisions that had practical difficulties.
Key features include online monitoring, transparent approval, timely payments, strengthened social audit, and local need-based planning.
The system aims to reduce corruption and irregularities in rural development works.
It empowers gram panchayats and promotes participation of women, SHGs, and rural youth.
Focus on five-year development plans, community participation, and sustainable quality assets.
Expected to accelerate rural infrastructure, employment generation, water conservation, and livelihood enhancement.
