Why in news
Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has committed to adopting the National e-Vidhan Application (NEVA) to digitize legislative processes. A meeting on July 16, 2026, between the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Maharashtra government, and Assembly secretariat agreed to expedite an MoU for swift implementation. This marks a key step towards a paperless, transparent, and citizen-centric legislature under the 'One Nation, One Application' vision.
Background
NEVA is a mission mode project under the Digital India programme, aimed at digitizing all 37 state and union territory legislatures through a unified digital platform. The project, approved with a total outlay of ₹673.94 crore, provides electronic access to legislative business for members. So far, 33 legislatures have signed MoUs and 21 have become fully digital.

Discussions covered software features, technical infrastructure, financial assistance, capacity building, timelines, and roles of agencies.
