The National Testing Agency (NTA) has terminated 47 officials and initiated a specialist-led restructuring following the NEET-UG paper leak. This move aims to restore credibility in national entrance examinations and prevent future malpractices.
Background
The NEET-UG 2026 exam was cancelled after a paper leak, forcing nearly 20 lakh candidates to retake it on June 21. The government has been under pressure to overhaul NTA's functioning.

Assessment head will handle question banks, normalisation, equating, calibration, and pilots on computer-adaptive testing and AI-assisted assessment.
Test-centre operations head will manage NTA's network across 500+ cities and select overseas centres.
Information-security head (CISO) will oversee systems, networks, applications, candidate data, 24/7 SOC, and compliance with data-protection, IT, and CERT-In requirements.
Vigilance head will lead malpractice inquiries, build in-house digital-forensics capability, and coordinate with CBI, IB, ED, state police, and cybercrime units under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act.
