Shri Harjit Singh Grewal assumed office as Chairperson of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) on 21 July 2026. This appointment marks a renewed commitment to the welfare, inclusion, empowerment and socio-economic development of minority communities.
Background
The National Commission for Minorities is a statutory body established under the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. It monitors the implementation of safeguards for minorities and evaluates the progress of their development.
