Why in news
The Supreme Court has intervened in the CBSE digital evaluation (OSM) system irregularities, asking for details of remedial steps. A one-member commission has been appointed to inquire into the issues, and the court stressed urgent action to address student concerns.
Background
CBSE introduced on-screen marking (OSM) for digital evaluation. Allegations of irregularities include non-scanning of pages, illegible scans, and non-evaluation of answers. The Centre removed CBSE chairperson and secretary in June 2026 and ordered an inquiry.
