11.4% of 7.99 Lakh Waqf Claims Rejected on UMEED Portal

Why in news
Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed Parliament on July 23, 2026, that as of July 17, over 7.99 lakh Waqf property claims were initiated for uploading on the UMEED Central Portal-2025. Of these, 91,253 claims (11.4%) were rejected during verification, and 91,623 properties are pending uploading.
Background
The UMEED Central Portal-2025 was launched in June 2025 under the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 (UMEED Act) to digitize and manage the lifecycle of Waqf properties. Existing Waqf properties were required to file details within six months, extendable by tribunals.

The UMEED Central Portal-2025 is a statutory portal under Section 3(ka) of the UMEED Act, 1995.
The portal manages registration, verification, survey by Collector, mutation, and annual account audit.
Extensions for uploading were granted by Waqf tribunals/courts after the initial six-month period.
The ministry reopened the portal for boards granted further extensions.
