Why in news

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs launched the upgraded NYPS 2.0 web portal on 11 September 2024. Unlike the previous version limited to recognized institutions, NYPS 2.0 is now open to all educational institutions, groups, and citizens across India. The Minister of State for Law and Justice and Parliamentary Affairs provided registration data in a Lok Sabha written reply.

Background

The National Youth Parliament Scheme (NYPS) is a flagship program of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to promote democratic values and parliamentary procedures among youth. The original version restricted participation to students of recognized institutions. NYPS 2.0 expands access to all citizens.
